2 Sundays ago, my feet didn’t hurt so I taped them and went for 4 glorious miles. That Wednesday my new shoes arrived and I immediately took them for a spin. I didn’t get as many runs or swims in that I wanted. On Saturday I went to church and a funeral. I forgot how much sitting for hours on hard wooden benches wrecks my body. Last Sunday I was spent at 3 miles. Tuesday- Wednesday I had breathing issues because my neighbors were burning garbage, but I was at it again on Thursday. This time around I have a lot of tightness in my hips that I am dealing with.
I am still dedicated to running the San Juan Divas Half Marathon in November. I am not sure how I will afford it. My goal is to register by the end of July then look for sponsorship for airfare and accommodations. If you have any ideas for sponsorship let me know. Here are the last two weeks in running:
Sunday: 4 miles
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: 2 miles
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: 3 miles
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 2 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest
This week I plan to swim twice and run 3 times, use ice cups, build my core strength and strengthen my hip abductors. I am also going to do most of my running at the field near my house so that I am running on grass instead of pavement/road.
PS My running shoes have mysteriously reappeared.
What precautions do you take to avoid injury?
