Pose of the Week: Supported Shoulder Stand

image

Shoulder stand is called the queen of poses because of the many benefits it provides to the mind and body.  However it is not accessible or suitable for everyone. Some people with high blood pressure feel pressure in their ears and head during shoulder stand.  If you are still working on shoulder stand or just looking for a gentler option I present you with supported shoulder stand.
*start in bridge pose
*place a block under your sacrum (there should be no pinching, move the block until it is comfortable)
*place the hands by your side palms facing down
*Pressing into the hands lift the legs
* Relax the head, kneck and shoulders and avoid looking around.
Let me know if you you have any questions.

How do you shoulder stand?
